CHRC Uses Electronic Duct Tape to Silence Ezra Levant

If you want to see a small example of just how far out of control the Canadian "Human Rights" Commissions are, watch this video. Never in my entire life have I seen such a preposterous arrangement where the audio of one of the pundits was silenced. Pathetic.

For visual purposes, it would have been priceless if Levant had affixed a piece of duct tape over his mouth but still, his [forced] silence spoke volumes ... loudly. Let's hope that more & more Canadians are finally realizing that Jennifer Lynch's Canada is more totalitarian than even George Orwell could have conceived in his darkest dreams.

For Jennifer "Gag All Who Disagree With Me" Lynch-mob not to appear on the show EVEN AFTER the ridiculous conditions were set up by CTV is positive proof of:

1. What an absolute coward she is.
2. What a completely unaccountable public official she is.
3. Why she should be fired immediately.

The fact that our current Conservative government is doing nothing about this is beyond appalling. Certainly the Liberals and NDP would be even worse but I cannot look up to (or send money to) a political party that is "less worse" than others.

The Letterman Debacle: Some Positive Signs

As this day draws to a close I'm pleased to be able to report that some semblance of unity is occurring between the Left and the Right in America over a mutual disgust of David Letterman's recent attacks on Sarah Palin and her daughters.

Starting with the Right, Michelle Malkin and Don Surber have provided some pretty stinging indictments.

But also on the Left, I was stunned, in a positive way, to see this condemnation by NOW, which is generally regarded as a fairly Far Left organization. Sure, they balanced it with a criticism of an old Rush Limbaugh crack but fair is fair.

I was perhaps most impressed of all though by the over 200 comments on Uppity Woman's blog. In case you're not aware, she was a big time Hillary Clinton supporter and in no way a Republican. In one of the comments she wrote this:

Rape is rape. And disrespect of women is moving toward rampant in this country, PARTICULARLY among the far far left Democrats. They are the very pigs they have called the republicans all these years. They are caught up in their own irony and have become what they said they despise. They no longer represent the women of America and perhaps they never did, but just pretended so that they could get votes. This kind of behavior against women is growing in leaps and bounds and the young women in this country had better get the point before they find they must start all over again gaining rights they thought were Forever.

How would Dave Letterman like a nice joke about his fugly five year old? I’ll be that’s off limits to him because it’s his kid. Thank GOD he doesn’t have a daughter is all I can say.

Intelligent, decent people have quickly realized that a very scary line has been crossed here. It's not healthy for political discourse or for a country. Absolutely no repercussions have occurred to Letterman yet. I still think he should donate a large sum of money to a Rape Crisis Center or similar organization and even volunteer there for a dozen hours. It would do him a lot of good.

Mayor Robertson Meets Reality

I just heard a woman on the radio named "Lynne" talking about the situation of the two homeless shelters near Beach and Howe. She mentioned that there are now dozens upon dozens of street people living just a block from a preschool, how loud parties are going on all the time, how urinating and fornicating is going on, and how used needles are being found all around the area.

Our "beloved" leader, Mayor Gregor Robertson, was interviewed on the issue here @ 36:00. Listen to the naive twit and see if you gain ANY confidence from what he's saying. If you think I'm being too harsh then read what Alex Tsakumis has to say.

I will never forget when Robertson was running to be my MLA for the first time. He was on a radio talk show which I called and asked him this simple question:

My elderly mother and her friends are getting increasingly scared of being out on the streets. They are getting increasingly harassed by panhandlers. If you're elected, what are you going to do about it?

His answered floored me: "Elderly people like your mother should appreciate all they have and have more empathy for those without." His answer spoke volumes to me and why I'm not surprised one bit about his absolute incompetence on this issue.

Reverend Wright and the Holocaust Museum Shooting

This morning I came across this posting by Amy Alkon concerning Reverend Wright's latest outburst.

Isn't it interesting how during the 2008 Presidential election campaign, if anyone "dared" bring up the peculiarity of Barack Obama spending 20 years of his life in Reverend Wright's church, they were immediately labeled as "racists" and insensitive to Black issues in America.

How terribly convenient, eh?! Dare question Obama's close association with his hate mongering pastor and the entire discussion is immediately swept under the rug under the auspices of RACISM.

Now the latest chapter in Wright's demented life story has been written. It's absolutely no different from the chapters before yet there's no mea culpa from the Left, is there?!

In the comments section of the aforementioned story on Alkon's site was a comment by a woman named Lynne, referring to this editorial. It concerns the recent shooting at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC and the reaction to it.

To recap ... an absolutely demented old man enters the museum with a rifle and kills another human being. And the immediate response of the Left? Blame the "right-wingers"! Blame Rush Limbaugh! Blame Sean Hannity! Yet, never in my life have I EVER heard conservative talk show hosts utter a derogatory word about Jews. Not once. Yet on the Rabid Left blogs (HuffPo, DailyKos, CBC News, etc.) criticism and blame of the Jews is a regular staple in the diet needed to feed their craven sick hearts. It doesn't matter what the topic, the Jews are always blamed by a legion of hateful Leftists. Always!

If "Denial" could be bottled, these folks would be billionaires!

Golden Ears Bridge

This weekend, the Golden Ears Bridge will open up and provide a direct link between the Northeast sector of Metro Vancouver and the Southeast sector. Located about 11km east of the existing Port Mann Bridge, it will provide a much needed extra link across the Fraser River and hopefully reduce congestion.

On July 31st the Albion Ferry, which has been operating since 1957, will cease operations.

"Climate-change diasters kill 300,000 a year"

That headline is a few weeks old but something I just read today. Incidentally, the misspelling of the "D" word was the Washington Post's, not mine. Here are the first two paragraphs of the story:

LONDON -- Climate-change disasters kill around 300,000 people a year and cause about $125 billion in economic losses, mainly from agriculture, a think-tank led by former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan reported Friday.

The Global Humanitarian Forum also estimated that 325 million people are seriously affected by climate change _ a number it says will double by 2030, as more people are hit by natural disasters or suffer environmental degradation caused by climate change.

I can assert with great confidence that the story and all of the numbers are clearly bogus but yet this is the CRAP that substitutes for real news these days.

David Letterman's Embarrassing Downward Spiral

When I was a teenager and in my early twenties, I was THE biggest fan of David Letterman. But in the past few years he has continuously embarrassed & debased himself. The latest episode involves him saying that Sarah Palin has the look of a "slutty flight attendant". Then he went on to refer to Palin's 14 year old daughter, Willow, being knocked up by NY Yankees player, Alex Rodriguez. Just imagine if someone with a conservative bent made similar jokes about a female Democrat politician like Debbie Wasserman Schultz or Jennifer Granholm. This would be a front page scandal in the New York Times. The double standard is so blatant.


What kind of MAN makes sex jokes about a 14 year old girl?!? And then when confronted with the error of his ways, he refuses to sincerely apologize.

May I suggest that he should donate $1 Million to a charity that focuses on helping young girls who have been sexually abused. It would be a start to show some actual compassion.

Melanie Phillips Explains The Recent BNP Success

The Spectator's Melanie Phillips provides a devastating analysis of the recent election in the UK. She points out that the Radical Leftist domestic policies of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have directly lead to the victories of the Far Right party, the BNP. Never forget that politics is like a pendulum. Most people would like things to remain relatively in the middle but when it starts moving too far in one direction then there's a natural reaction of the public to pull it back in equal, and sometimes even greater, measure.

Now, just half a year later, something very different is occurring.


Makes one wonder if the Left can ever temper its excessive rhetoric with ... wait for it ... FACTS?!?

Testing Notes of Windows 7 - 64 bit Release Candidate

For those seeking unbiased independent feedback on the upcoming Windows 7, these comments are not mine but come from a tech savvy friend/colleague:

Windows 7 RC 64-bit – Notes:

- One thing I noticed right off the hop was that it went out and automatically went looking for drivers for the hardware in my laptop. It must have reported my configuration back to Microsoft and then automatically downloaded whatever it had been able to identify. I have not done much with it yet, but I can see that it is more responsive. Total memory load after initial boot (with nothing else installed on the system) is 16 % of 4094 (4 GB total RAM) or approx. 650 MB, this compares with about 900 MB on my Vista system (same platform).

- Memory footprint is now sitting at 1 GB just about all the time, surprisingly it remains quite responsive but don't even think of running this on less than a dual-core.

- There is no email client installed by default, you can go to the MS site and download live mail. They cut out a bunch of "default" applications (messenger etc. – although I don’t use it anyway).

- It now includes a screen capture tool, obviously not as full featured as SnagIt but still functional.

- The Windows side bar from Vista and any screen gadgets are not loaded at startup by default, although if you get a system from Dell or HP I imagine that they will add their own tweaks to the interface.

- They are trying to make the computer even easier to use in the future (people will not have a clue how to do anything). I suppose many people just want that to be the way their computer works (just make it work and I don't give a S**T what goes on underneath). This was clearly evidenced by the fact that it went out looking for drivers for my system without my intervention. I suppose a Mac works the same way, how many people know that Unix is sitting under the hood, not your average user anyway.

- Everything looks very like Vista. Taskbar is different and you can pin shortcuts to it. They have added a glow effect when you mouse over.

- File copying still is not as fast as XP, but improved from Vista.

- Boot time is quicker than my XP desktop and recovery from sleep is VERY quick.

- Installed 32-bit Adobe Photoshop and LightRoom - no problem.

- Installed 64-bit Java but Adobe Flash is not available in 64-bit yet, so you need to run two different browsers to get full functionality (Youtube and Java sites).

- After system boot RAM is at 837 MB and the system is usable, although there is still stuff going on in the background and if you let the system settle down for a few minutes the RAM is then at 971 MB.

- Ran a virus scan (Avira - free) on schedule, but the memory consumed by the application did not release after the scan was complete (then at 1225 MB).

- Installed Firefox – no problems.

- If you want to install the applications that MS cut from the install (mail client, messenger etc) then you have to install "Live Essentials". If you select everything this loads a HUGE suite of applications, you can be selective, but I went to see what it wanted to load with just the mail client and it was more than I wanted on the system. I think in such cases it would be better to load individual "other" applications to fill the gap (Thunderbird, Picasa etc.). Although I think it would depend on the user that I was doing this for.

- I was looking at pricing today as the download from MS is Windows 7 Ultimate version. There is no pricing announced, but Vista Ultimate was selling for $591......wow !! I could not see paying anything even close to that for an operating system and it "aint that good".....at least not $600 worth of good.

- General observation on installing software - there is a very definite pause before anything starts to happen, in fact you might even think that things had froze. The user account control is way less annoying (I guess they must have listened there also), but still pops up if there are changes going to happen to the system (like installing software). I tried installing SnagIt, but when it got to installing the printer driver the whole process got stuck consuming 50 % of the CPU and I had to kill everything and reboot to finally clear it.

- By the way I have not tweaked this installation at all and everything that was "running out of the box" is still running (like indexing, defender etc.). I decided to leave it as is and just see how it performs. So far it seems to do quite well, despite the huge amount of RAM that it is consuming. I see several comments on the web about people calling this "what Vista was supposed to be". Vista never should have shipped.

- Windows 7 is looking like a definite improvement on Vista. Today there was a flag in the notification area that wanted me to setup a backup. I decided to play along and it walked me through choosing a destination. It gives all sorts of hints and links to get more information. Once I had chosen a backup location (my FreeNAS backup server) it looked at it and said that it was visible to other users and was this okay. We proceeded and I let it go with whatever defaults it wanted to save, which included making a full disc image as well as saving all of my documents and settings. It then prompted and said to access the disc image you would have to create a rescue cd or dvd, I clicked that link and it walked me through the process of making a rescue disc.

- When you look at these things that they have thrown in, such as: screen capture, decent backup utility, screen notes etc......plus whatever I have not come across yet, it looks like maybe they are starting to get the right idea (after how many years......). I suppose I should try and find a feature list somewhere so I can take full advantage of this "test drive".

- Had a spare 2 GB high speed SD card so I decided to add that to the system and let it use it as “Ready Boost”. Things seem to be snappier, but I am not sure if that is real or imagined. My system is quick and does have good specs. (Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHZ with 4 GB RAM). I will leave it in for a few days and then remove it and see if I notice any change.

- Could not install Zonealarm Security Suite – not ready for Windows 7 yet.

- Regular virus scan just started and the system is now consuming approx. 1750 MB RAM. Max RAM consumed during this process was as high as 1975 MB – ouch !! Scan completed and it failed to release the RAM again – now sitting at 1941 MB – obviously a reboot will fix that, but that is not right. Seeing as other applications do not do this it has to be the Avira anti-virus that is causing this.

- I did have one unidentified item in Device Manager, this is now resolved (but not by me). I have to assume that one of the updates from MS fixed this.

- Not all of the themes are enabled but can be added. There are different themes for different countries (US, Cdn, South Africa, Aus, UK) – I like the Cdn. theme.

Internet Speed Test

I'm trying to help a friend troubleshoot some connection problems he's having. When I run this speed test I consistently get these results:

• 10,000 - 25,000 kbps Download
• 900 - 990 kbps Upload

If you live in North America, could you run the same test and let me know your results? Just choose the server closest to you. It's not an exact science so run it a few times to get an average, if you could. If you leave a comment, please let me know your location. Thanks!

Barack Obama's Cairo Speech

I commend Barack Obama for giving the speech in Cairo, Egypt. You can watch it in full here and read the entire text here. I don't agree with everything he said but at least he has put his cards on the table. This clearly was a much more friendly speech than would have been given by George Bush. The question is, will Obama's approach actually do anything? Here are some reactions hand picked by the BBC.

Now that Obama has shown his cards, here are some questions I have:

• What will governments throughout the so-called Muslim world do in response?
• According to the Left, harmony with America on the "Arab street" should now result. Will it?
  
• Will the rights of Muslim women be greatly strengthened? Even one little bit?
  
• Will citizens be given similar human rights to those we in the West have?
  
• If none of these things occur can we then agree that Obama's approach was naive?

I'll also be most interested to see the reaction from Israel. As I've long said, I believe the Israel-Palestinian situation cannot be resolved because only one side wants peace. Furthermore, I firmly believe that certain dark forces throughout the Muslim world want the Palestinian people to keep on suffering in their squalid conditions because if that were ever to end, it would not suit their political objectives.

More than anyone, I do hope that things improve for the billions of Muslims around the world. But I think it has a lot more to do with them than anything any American President can hope to do.

But in Al Gore's nirvana, the women only use 3 squares of toilet paper per day, only shower once a week from water captured off of the rooftops, and sex with them, to paraphrase Dennis Miller, is extremely neurotic & endlessly dull!

The Underlying Violence of the Rabid Left

Imagine if a male journalist wrote an article advocating which women he'd like to rape. Do you think there'd be a large outcry from everyone, especially women's groups?

I'd certainly hope so. But apparently not if the women in question happen to be conservatives. Such is the case with Guy Cimbalo, who yesterday wrote that he'd like to "Hate F*ck" (ie. rape) the following women:

• ... he dropped out of Yale Law, worked for the Hillary Clinton campaign, then switched to the winning Obama campaign after it won? Or that he lives with his dog? This may be a new kind of passive punishment for GM. Bought by POTUS to be handed over to a boldly ignorant and unskilled apparatchik who thinks of himself as dog-lover.

Windows 7 Launch Date Announced

Though Windows 7 has been available in Beta for some time now, the official launch date was announced today: Thursday, October 22nd, 2009.

Everyone I've spoken to really loves this product. Not only is it reported to be up to 40% faster than Vista and XP, it has a slick new interface. I've often heard it said that "Win 7 is what Vista should have been".

The New GM: Socialist Motors

I'm very disturbed by the news today that the Obama Administration will now effectively be running GM. This is a very bad sign in the long history of American capitalism.

Amongst the strangest of the news of this government takeover is that the person managing it all will be a 31 year-old law student named Brian Deese. His experience in the automobile industry to date is . . . absolutely zero. In fact, I don't actually believe that he has ever worked in the private sector whatsoever. So why is Mr. Deese involved in this at all?

Thinking ahead a few moves . . . Barack Obama is clearly staking his future on this plan. I strongly suspect that very few conservatives (which polls indicate constitute 60% of Americans) are going to buy a government made car. So that leaves the remaining 40% of Americans. There will be a HUGE push to get this latter group to buy GM cars.

After all, GM is now the perfect company for the Left:

• Government controlled
• Employing highly paid union workers
• No more "greedy capitalists" at the helm to mess things up

The question is, do you think that the Leftists and Limousine liberals will walk their talk? Will they put their money where their collective mouths are? Will they give up their Priuses and Honda Civics and Smart Cars and Lexuses and BMWs and instead buy GM cars? Obama's future depends upon it.
