More on the Letterman Debacle

Incidentally, I responded to this comment as follows:

UtahWoman, you wrote: "I do not see this as a left or right issue. I see it as a male vs female issue."

I agree with you that it's not a Left vs. Right issue. But it is NOT a Male vs. Female issue.

I've just spent quite a bit of time arguing with a woman from Saskatchewan named Janice who fully supports David Letterman and deeply criticizes anyone who considers it any more than a "joke". She went on to justify the smearing of any of the Palin daughters as somehow Palin's fault. I never understood her logic but it seems akin to blaming a woman for being raped. Finally, when I asked her how she would feel if the same sort of jokes were leveled at the Obama daughters she said, "they don't have anything to do with this."

That kind of limited thinking is not much different from Joy Behar's, as shown here. Listen to her words but also carefully watch her body language. Then listen to the list of all the women's groups and magazines that refuse to criticize Letterman in any way, shape or form.

A Canadian radio show host, Roy Green, asked a very interesting question today: "How come Don Imus lost his job over derogatory remarks he made about a women's basketball team yet not a thing has happened to David Letterman?" Answer that question and you'll get a sense of how rotten the core of the mainstream media has become.

I go back to Reagan's comment that I referred to earlier: "This is not a Left or Right issue, but an Up or Down one." More precisely, it's about those who believe in those archaic concepts known as "Honor" and "Decency" and those who don't.

Incidentally, a woman has created a Facebook group to demand a REAL apology from Letterman. Think about joining it.

Finally, please know that my outrage would be precisely the same had similar "jokes" been made about Malia or Natasha Obama.

The Underlying Violence of the Rabid Left

Imagine if a male journalist wrote an article advocating which women he'd like to rape. Do you think there'd be a large outcry from everyone, especially women's groups?

I'd certainly hope so. But apparently not if the women in question happen to be conservatives. Such is the case with Guy Cimbalo, who yesterday wrote that he'd like to "Hate F*ck" (ie. rape) the following women:

  1. Amanda Carpenter
  2. Dana Perino
  3. Elisabeth Hasselbeck
  4. Laura Ingraham
  5. Mary Katharine Ham
  6. Michelle Malkin
  7. Megyn Kelly
  8. Michelle Bachman
  9. Pamela Geller
  10. Peggy Noonan
Who would ever have thought that in the so-called progressive times we live in that mainstream writers would publicly say such things and that the outcry against them by mainstream women's groups was absolutely silent. Shame! Absolute & Utter Shame!!

Disturbing Video from France

The following video has been suppressed from all servers in France:

Here's one account of the incident and here's another.

Mother Killed by Gangsters

Earlier today a mother was caught in gunfire and murdered, while her son was in the same vehicle.

In October 1970, Prime Minister Pierre Eliott Trudeau utilized the War Measures Act to bring in the military, so that the police could focus their attention on tracking down a group of terrorists known as the FLQ.

The streets of Metro Vancouver are clearly under attack by a group of terrorists that some call gang members. Are we coming close to Prime Minister Stephen Harper following a similar action as his predecessor?

Canada's Failed Judicial System

There was yet another gang shooting in Metro Vancouver today. This one occurred in Langley and involved a machine gun.

Later in the day a very interesting discussion occurred between CKNW's Jon McComb and BC's Attorney General, Wally Oppal. You can listen to it here (@ 37:00). Update: As David in North Burnaby has pointed out, CKNW has suppressed the audio from this interview. That's beyond sad. Here's the message on their AudioVault page:

Update #2: I have heard back from Jon McComb and stand corrected with my earlier conspiracy theory. The reason the audio is blocked is because CKNW played tapes from the 911 calls of the father who killed his daughter. Hopefully they'll reinstate the rest of the audio soon so that others can listen to McComb asking Oppal some very important questions.

The fact that nothing tangible is being done to quash gang violence is proof positive of how much the powers at be have lost control of our judicial system.

Barbarians Inside the Gates

Please watch the following videos:

Muslim protesters fighting with police in Oslo

Now ask yourself why liberal "progressives" the world over are defending such people, citing moral equivalency and portraying them as victims.

I know plenty of Muslim people. Each & every one of them is a great person. They would never act in a manner such as you've seen above. Defending these upstanding citizens is a fine & noble thing to do.

But how on earth did we get to a point where some now believe that defending violent Muslims is somehow "supporting a minority" and thus the right thing to do? Sometimes I wonder if we're once again living in the Europe of the 1930's and the world is about to get turned upside down again en masse.

If you want to see just how depraved some in Canada have become, read this posting by a "progressive" blogger whose tagline claims to be "rolling back the tide of extremism". The only way he could do that would be to detach his fingers from his keyboard. Clearly his brain has been detached from even the tiniest thread of decency for some time. If one didn't know better, you'd think that this pile of filth would be one of those bandana-wearing anarchists seeking to destroy society. Yet up until now he has been a proud supporter of the Liberal Party of Canada.

France's Version of "Calm"

My head spun around a few times when I read this. Note the contrast between these two successive sentences:

  1. Four police officials were slightly injured, according to the interior ministry, which said its security forces "were of the unanimous view" that New Year's Eve was "rather calm and without major incident."

  2. The interior ministry had earlier said 445 vehicles were set on fire overnight, but later revised that figure to 1,147.
The emphasis is mine. Keep in mind that this is coming from the same country whose "intellectuals" continuously condemn us in North America as provincial neanderthals without any culture! I can just see the 2009 France tourism ads:

Come Visit France, the Land of Great Culture: Wine, Cheese, and Spontaneous Renault Fires!

More "Innocent Progressives"

So often I hear that "progressives" are full of peace & love. Nice slogans but sooooo far from the truth. Fast-forward to 2:40:

What Do French Socialists & Taliban Terrorists Have in Common?

They both [more than] hint at violence if the citizens of France don't elect another weak-kneed socialist government. Read here & here. I wonder if Socialist Presidential candidate Ségolène Royal realizes how pathetic and scandalous it is for her to be making the predictions of violence that she has?

A supporter of hers would, of course, state that she wasn't inciting any violence. True. But by making the statement that she has, what exactly was she trying to accomplish? She's an intelligent woman and had a clear motivation to say what she did.

The Virginia Tech Massacre

Like the rest of you, I'm still sorting out in my own mind all of my feelings about the tragedy that recently occurred in Blacksburg, Virginia. However the hairs on the back of my neck go up when I hear the same old chorus of:

  • We must stop such a thing from ever happening again. Really, how?
  • The murderer, Cho, was a victim too. Sorry, I just can't feel sorry for him.
  • All guns must be banned. This is a very complex issue and isn't quite so simple.
  • Much more sensitivity training would have prevented this. Really, how?
I realize that people need to express their grief in different ways but it's very uncouth when different groups immediately use a tragedy to support their own agenda.
Mark Steyn makes some excellent points here. And David Berner does the same here
