Bing Birdseye

I've been touring the world of late using Bing's Birdseye View. As a pop-quiz of sorts, I'm curious whether anyone can identify the location of these photos:

Hint: The last 2 photos should immediately tell you what country it's in. After knowing that, you should be able to narrow it down fairly quickly!

Windows Live + Virtual Earth

When it comes to mapping I use both Google Maps and Windows Live. But the latter has the ability to load Virtual Earth. When you do that, you can do some really cool things! Here are some screen shots of "flying" around Seattle:

The World at Night

I stared at this map for some time. It made me realize what a mere spec each of us is in the scope of our planet.

A 3D View of the World

I've found it very fascinating to use Microsoft's 3D Live Maps website to browse the world from a birds-eye perspective. Not every place is available but many are. Here are a few snapshots I took during my "travels":

Feel free to leave a comment, taking a guess where you think these places are!

Funny Map Story

Google Maps has a relatively new feature that allows one to save customized maps with little symbols and routes, etc. I have one saved called "Robert's Place" that allows me to quickly show a visitor how to get to my home.

I have a visitor in from Portland who is staying in New Westminster. So I tried the Directions feature and entered "New Westminster" as the starting place. For the destination I entered "Robert's Place", thinking that Google Maps would remember that I had saved it. Nope. It took me too a very different location!
