Windows 7 Launch Date Announced

Though Windows 7 has been available in Beta for some time now, the official launch date was announced today: Thursday, October 22nd, 2009.

Everyone I've spoken to really loves this product. Not only is it reported to be up to 40% faster than Vista and XP, it has a slick new interface. I've often heard it said that "Win 7 is what Vista should have been".

Here's the official home page of Windows 7.

Hmm...I have a feeling Microsoft may be trying too hard and too fast to push 7 out in order to make up for the blemish caused by Vista.....

In any case, to be on the safe side, I'll wait until 7's Service Pack 1 comes out.

And your conclusion is based on ... what?

Everyone at Microsoft would concur that Vista was released too early but Windows 7 truly does appear to be what Vista should have been.

Never any harm in waiting awhile before using a new product but I think Win7 is going to be a HUGE winner for MS!

"The trend is your friend until it ends"...

While Vista's shortcomings are still fresh in most tech people's minds...

XP did not become a slick and smooth OS until SP2 came out in 2004...remember the frequent amount of worms, spy ware and other mass security vulnerabilities before SP2 addressed them?

ME was just a complete disaster like Vista...you know anyone with a good thing to say about ME?

Even the first release of 98 had stability issues that took 98SE to rectify.

So that's what my conclusion is based on: the trend of Microsoft's product history in regards to it home-consumer line over the past decade.

Sure, 7 may break the trend big time and be a grand slam for MSFT, but I'll wait for paying "Gamma-testers" to weed out any final gremlins before I'll upgrade myself.

Right before the 100% CCA rules expires.

Hopefully, 7 and it's Tablet Edition will be great because I'm thinking of a TabletPC as my next machine as I want a laptop to succeed my aging desktop from 2003...
