Battlestar Galactica Comes to a Close :-(

After four fascinating seasons, Battlestar Galactica, is finishing up its run on TV. Two of the final scenes were especially interesting. This one, as the humans and cylons, who have now settled their differences, provides great optimism:
But then they encounter a completely destroyed, radioactive earth. This scene, which must have been shot on a local Vancouver beach, had significant CGI added to provide what I assume is a destroyed Brooklyn Bridge, with New York City across the water.
The message from the writers is clear: We need to stop our squabbling and move forward together as one peaceful species. Easier said than done though, easier said than done.

Update: I'm wrong about the series coming to a close! See the comments herein.

Battlestar's not over -- there will be another 1/2 season (really a 5th season, but they're calling it season 4.5) in early 2009.

Yikes, I didn't know! Thanks for the update, John. I wonder if some of the humans from Earth headed elsewhere?
