The Extremely Brave Protesters in Iran

I am overwhelmed with empathy and admiration for those in Iran who are protesting for their freedom. There are reports now that many of the members of security forces don't speak Farsi, the national language of the country. In other words, they're thugs brought in from other countries.

We here in the West sooooooooooo take our democracy for granted. Take a look at the photos at this link. This gentleman is providing constant feeds on Twitter. There are many more photos here.

The Tamil Protest in Toronto: What is Michael Ignatieff Up To?

In case you haven't yet heard, thousands of Tamil protesters shut down the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto. They were there to coerce the Canadian government into following their demands.

Most Canadians do not know enough about the situation in Sri Lanka to have any idea whether their cause is just or not. However, their tactics are deplorable. Are we now going to be getting every single expat group under the sun shutting down major traffic arteries across Canada in order to change Canadian foreign policy?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper wasn't prepared to be held hostage politically by these protesters but Michael Ignatieff, sensing a political opportunity, has apparently caved into their demands.

SDA regular 'ET' shares her thoughts:

The latest news - is that Ignatieff has moved in for the Vote.

He's contacted these Tamils, who have attacked our police, and have held the public hostage by taking over a major highway- well, Ignatieff has supported their violation of the Rule of Law and their behaviour within the Rule of Force.

He's told them that HE will bring up, to his caucus, tomorrow, the issue of asking the govt to impose sanctions on Sri Lanka.

Ahh, Ignatieff. Think what he has done. The Tamils have violated our laws; they have taken Toronto commuters hostage; they have made unreasonable demands - that they will use their Rule of Force to make the govt do what THEY want to a foreign country.

So, Ignatieff moves in for 'the kill'. Just like the Tamils, he's violating the Rule of Law. He's after their vote. He says HE accepts their agenda; HE accepts that sanctions against Sri Lanka should be put in place.

And, when Harper disagrees, as he probably will, well - Ignatieff gets the Tamil Vote!!!

Ahh, the Liberals. Trust them to cheat, lie, manipulate and use people. For their own agenda. Power. Just personal power.

So, we have the Tamils using Power to achieve their agenda of making our govt do what THEY want, not what our gov't wants. And we have Ignatieff using Power to achieve..votes..for power.
Disgusting.

Update: The power of the Internet over traditional media proves itself once again. Someone has created a brand new blog to showcase a succession of photos which clearly ilustrates how the Tamil protesters broke through police lines and up onto the Gardiner Expressway.

Lest we forget, Michael Ignatieff CAVED INTO the THUGS at the front of this group who appear to have attacked brave but clearly helplessly outnumbered police officers. Not a leader, just an Appeaser!

Are We on the Brink of a Race War in the UK?

In his landmark book, America Alone, Mark Steyn predicted that something like this, albeit much more widespread and more violent, would eventually break out.

Who are the protesters, mostly young men, that we see in the video? Well, the UK media and the British government will tell you that they are BNP supporters, racists, and neo-nazis. I wonder if that's true.

While there are undoubtedly some true zealots there, my guess is that many, if not most, are average young men who are fed up with all the traditions of their nation being thrown away in favour of "multiculturalism" and political correctness. In practice this means that the British traditions and values are no longer paramount IN BRITAIN. That is sheer lunacy and a sure recipe for the destruction of any nation.

Dennis Miller Quotation

Dennis Miller, on the accusation that the recent 'tea parties' were full of zealots:

"Zealots? Are you kidding me? I don't know about you, but I've seen more zealots in a line-up at my local deli!"

"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" - The Who

The United States of America was founded in 1776 because the hard working citizens of what was then a colony of England, grew tired of unaccountable, irresponsible government.

Today Tea Party demonstrations are occurring all over America. These are heartfelt protests against over-taxation by all levels of government. Make no mistake, the protests are also against both the Democrats and the Republicans.

And how does the Obama Administration, purported to be more open to dialogue than ever before, respond? By coordinating with the Homeland Security Department they now control and issuing a new document a few days ago entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment". If you think the timing of this is mere coincidence, you're in more denial than Larry Craig thinking he's straight.

Even some people back in Jolly Olde' England are aware of how insipid this is. Imagine if this were occurring in a different country: A government controlled security agency, with more power than the police, releases a highly politicized report a week before scheduled citizen tax protests, insinuating that some of these protestors may be "Right Wing Extremists". This is the kind of thing that occurs in places like North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, and the old USSR and has served as a highly effective way to shut up opponents, even if such opponents are protesting peacefully and democratically.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. 233 years later, Americans are facing a very similar tyranny once again. Scary times ahead.

The "Peace" Movement's Big Lie

Left-of-centre blogger, Terry Glavin, explains in great detail how the peace movement has willingly joined the forces of Fundamentalist Islam.

And yet watch all those mindless Sheeple on the Left march in great ignorance. Useful idiots all!

Pro-Terrorism Rally in Toronto

Free Speech is a great thing and should always be promoted. But given the right of free speech doesn't guarantee that the speaker will utter anything remotely intelligent.

Here are some observations:

  • Clearly non-Jewish protesters posing as Jews
  • The Che Guevera flags (do they even know a thing about what he actually did?)
  • Multiple supporters screaming with glee about how Israel would be wiped off the map
  • Any attempt at peaceful dialogue by the protesters was clamped down upon by the "organizers"
  • The frenzied screaming of "Allah Akbar" such as we see in incensed mobs in Pakistan and other Muslim countries
  • Were the formally printed signs made by the same people who wanted to recently overthrow our democratically elected government with The Coalition?

Global warming protest frosted with snow

"A heavy snowfall blanketed a global warming protest outside the State House in Annapolis this morning, but it did not dampen the shouts of about 400 activists who urged lawmakers to pass the nation's toughest greenhouse gas control law."

Which word would be the more appropriate one for these folks to tattoo on their foreheads, "Naive" or "Moron" ?!?

The YVR Protest: An Absolute Disgrace!

Something absolutely insane happened at YVR yesterday. Even worse, though expected, the perpetrators are now labeling as racist anyone who publicly criticizes them. I've just sent the following letter to the Vancouver Sun:

The recent thug-like theatrics at YVR by Harsha Walia and her cohorts is a disgrace of the highest order. While the participants undoubtedly think an injustice is being done to them, I wonder if their little de facto gang stopped for a moment to consider what two points they made with crystal clarity:

  1. They have absolutely no respect for the law, let alone order.
  2. Playing the politically correct race card is as transparent as the hollow arguments they've been making.
With Svend Robinson now in Europe, perhaps Walia thought that a vacancy needed to be filled. Whatever the case, such actions are far, far beneath any Canadian, no matter what colour of skin they have or where they were originally born. I anxiously await the saner words of our Attorney General, Wally Oppal, to remind us all of what constitutes proper behaviour in this country that we all call home.

A half German-Canadian who would be saying EXACTLY the same thing if the gentleman in question were from my father's homeland.

'Tis The Season ... To Take Offence

December has arrived and the vast snowfall in Vancouver has provided a vivid reminder to us all that Christmas isn't too far away. In Australia, where they're several time zones ahead and thus much closer to that special day, the annual season of ... people taking offence to most everything you can possibly imagine has begun.

As this article outlines, an HR staffing firm Down Under has told its Santa trainees not to use the traditional "Ho, Ho, Ho" because it might offend women. Why? They fear that some women may associate the term with the American gangsta' rap meaning of the word "Ho".

In Britain, some feel that Santa is setting a bad example for obesity and slimmer Santas are being requested by some shopping malls.

Elsewhere, some environmental groups are informing us that Santa's sleigh, pulled by 9 reindeer, will emit the equivalent of 40,600 tonnes of greenhouse gases, thus making Santa an affront to Mother Earth.

Have you ever wondered what propels such people to take offence to everything? Long ago I coined the phrase "Permanent Victim Syndrome" (PVS). I'd now like to release a new one into the Zeitgeist.

The new millennium has seen our society dramatically shaped by globalization, computerization, and an endless number of conveniences. The end result? Most people have very little to truly worry about in their daily lives. As such, they have much more free time on their hands. While some spend their time thinking about the deeper issues of our existence, others have instead turned in the opposite direction and instead focus on, and often invent, issues that heretofore were never that important to anyone.

With a wide spectrum of individuals, you'll always have a wide spectrum of views. Some of these are just wacky. But in our 24/7 news culture such voices get a much wider audience than ever before. Combine this with the propensity of many 1st world liberals to not want to offend and it has become clear that we've entered a new period that I will now forever call the PCS Era, short for "Post Common Sense".

Walter Schultz was the first I've read to take note of the fact that PCS disciples have joined together to Protest Everything, Be Against Everything, and Say No To Everything. While his focus has been on local issues, such folks exist everywhere.

I've come to realize that such folks don't really base their protests on a cohesive set of principles, so much as a reason to be against something. Take the ongoing environmental debate as an example. The same sort of groups are against: getting energy from oil, from coal, from nuclear power, and even from new hydroelectric projects. They instead say that we should get all of our energy from solar and wind power projects. But rest assured that if the necessary installations were actually ever implemented, they'd be against them too. Here's one of many examples.

Understanding the deeper psychological motivations of these protesters, it's not too much of a stretch to realize that if these same people were in Sudan, they would be joining the mob to call for the death of British teacher, Gillian Gibbons. If you think that this assertion is outrageous or an exaggeration then you clearly do not understand the PCS mindset and the "emotions, not facts" mindset that so deeply grips its advocates.

Why Vancouverites Frequently Annoy Me

I'm a Vancouverite, born & raised. But I've lived in many other places too. Anyone reading my blog knows that I'm currently in Miami, Florida, finishing up the end of a 2-month working vacation here.

Every day I listen to CKNW online, read the Vancouver Sun, and watch the periodic newscast on the CTV website. Plus I read several blogs from back home, many of which there are links for on the right. So I have not lost track at all with what's going on back home.

I came across a posting in the Vancouver section of Craigslist where the author stated the following about the Vancouver Police Department: "Let me tell you this, they aren't rent a cops, but they are not professional, ethical ones either. What they are is incompetent, deceitful, corrupt and they are the largest criminal organization in this city. And,god help all the citizens of this city based on the fact that they are what we have as our police department."

If there's one thing [some] Vancouverites excel at, it's a self-imposed ignorance of the larger world around them and an Academy Award winning talent for playing the role of the proverbial victim. We have so much in Canada, especially in Vancouver, not the least of which are boundless opportunities to better our own lives. Yet people like this writer, anti-poverty "activists" (read "anarchists"), and environmental zealots would have the world believe that we're living in a totalitarian police state. Remember what I said about ignorance?

While I've been in Miami I've had the opportunity to talk with dozens upon dozens of people from all over the world, especially from many countries in the Caribbean and South America. Some specific conversations with Cuban & Haitian refugees and newcomers from Colombia & Argentina & Venezuela have provided me with extremely unpleasant first hand stories that will forever be imprinted in my brain.

You think you have it bad in Vancouver? Get a grip! Get a fracking grip!! You don't even know the meaning of the words: oppression, corruption, hunger, poverty, and hopelessness.

I'm flying home next week. Looking forward to it. But I know it won't be too long before the ignorant "permanent victims" of Vancouver vividly and constantly remind me of how incredibly selfish and ungrateful so many Canadians are.

The next time you see one of these folks outraged about this or that, just picture a spoiled little brat throwing a tantrum in public, complaining to his mother that he's not happy with the silver spoon in his mouth and wants a gold one instead!
