The Liberal Elitists Join in Dhalla's Attack of Filipino Immigrants

If you'd like to see the opposite of fair & balanced, look at this pro-Dhalla puff piece from CBC News. After reading it, one could only conclude that all 3 Filipino nannies must be lying.

Even worse, is this unbelievable editorial from Don Martin. Here are three key segments:

Ruby Dhalla is the Liberal MP at the epicentre of an incredibly nasty smear campaign as she moves to fight allegations by a pair of Philippine nannies who accuse her of making them work too hard doing menial tasks beyond their job description.

Something doesn’t smell right in having two former nannies step forward a year after they left the Dhalla family’s employment to suddenly complain about conditions that don’t seem unusually onerous for immigrant workers.

To suggest the workers’ alleged mistreatment at being ordered to shovel snow and do cleaning duties at the clinics is all the Brampton MP’s doing is a hard swallow.

I hope that all immigrants are made aware that Don Martin feels it's perfectly fine for them to work 16 hours a day and at much less than the minimum wage.

Folks, the class system is alive and well in Canada, at least in the minds of Liberal elites like Martin!

Homosexuals Aren't Free of Morons Either

Charles Adler Covers Rubygate

Listen here - Move the slider to 7:00 once the window loads. The entire hour is devoted to Ruby Dhalla. If the allegations are proven true then she may be facing criminal charges which would see her facing a jail term of up to 2 years.

In general terms, it's fascinating to watch the ABSOLUTE HYPOCRISY of so-called "progressives"!!!

Ruby, You've Got Some 'Splainin To Do

Some damning documents have been published by the Toronto Star concerning MP Ruby Dhalla's alleged payments to two Filipino nannies.

Based on the receipts containd therein, let do some math:

$250.00 - Payment per week

$6.25 - Hourly rate if the nanny worked 40 hrs/wk
$4.17 - Hourly rate if the nanny worked 60 hrs/wk
$3.13 - Hourly rate if the nanny worked 80 hrs/wk

Priceless - The spin that Ruby Dhalla and the Liberal Party of Canada will attempt trying to explain this!

Incidentally, this puff piece resonates quite differently now, doesn't it?!

How Liberal Elites Treat Their Nannies

A shocking story is emerging out of Ontario about how Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla has allegedly treated her nannies.

Just this past weekend, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff went on endlessly about how well women are treated by Liberals. This doesn't seemingly apply to members of his own caucus.

Innocent until proven guilty, but Ms. Dhalla certainly has some explaining to do!

Chapters' Bad Marketing Move

My local Chapters store had these books in their side window. Written by one of Canada's biggest sycophants, look for them to be in the Discount Bin very soon.

The Miss USA Pageant: The Intolerance of the Left

A very disturbing trend of intolerance is sweeping across America at an alarming rate. And the source is not where many might expect it. What is clear is that when the Left takes over something, diversity of opinion is not tolerated.

Dennis Prager dissects the latest example: the shunning, mocking, & ridiculing of a woman simply because she politely and compassionately disagrees with the concept of gay marriage.

Inconvenient Truths ... for Global Warming Alarmists

Al Gore is about to feature in a new movie, but he’s not going to like it very much. Titled Not Evil Just Wrong: The True Cost of Global Warming Hysteria, the film presents a devastating account of the shaky foundations and hefty price of Mr. Gore’s brand of self-interested and hypocritical alarmism.

Created by the Irish film making duo of Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney — who made another excellent documentary about the “dark side of environmentalism” called Mine Your Own Business — Not Evil provides the perfect rebuttal to Mr. Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.

So starts a superb new article from Peter Foster about a new movie which will be released later this year. Do read it and then do watch the film! Sadly, many on the Left will refuse to watch and just prefer to follow this mantra.

Rex Murphy: The Greens are Ecstatic about the World's Financial Troubles

Are you worried about the current financial crisis? If your name is Al Gore or David Suzuki or Elizabeth May then you're not worried whatsoever. In fact, you're jumping for joy ... but can't express your happiness because you're smart enough to know that some might take it the wrong way.

So goes the recent brilliant treatise from Rex Murphy. Here's a snippet:

Markets are drying up, private wealth is shrinking, the engines of industry are slowing. Layoff notices are going out all over the world. Governments everywhere are leaping into urgent deficit financing on the premise that a stalled or stopped world economy must be buttressed by massive intervention. Such is the emergency that almost every government, of every political stripe, has abandoned the great dogmas that warned of the evils of public debt, and embraced with an almost frantic abandon the opposite mantra: They must spend their way out of the recession.

Is there no light amid all this gloom?

Well, if you are among the great tribe of global warming catastrophists, surely there is. If the industrial economies of the world are in a forced slowdown, if auto companies - the manufacturers of those demonic gas-guzzling SUVs - are facing ruin, if long-standing business are cutting their work forces by 20 per cent and 30 per cent and 40 per cent, if people are buying less and, consequently, business is making less, then surely the entire world's carbon emissions are, per necessitatem, going down. The world is burning less oil, because the world is doing less.

Charles Adler and Lorrie Goldstein discuss the same here @ 7:00.

What I'm Reading

Lorrie Goldstein: Climate Porn - It's All About the Money

Have you noticed that when politicians, United Nations diplomats, environmental activists, radical scientists, journalists and even, lately, multinational corporations, talk about "going green" to save the planet, the only "green" they're talking about is the colour of our money? And about how to separate us from it?

As things stand, even if the handful of nations required to reduce emissions under Kyoto were doing it -- and many aren't, including us, because it's impossible without devastating our economies and resorting to shell games like "carbon credits" -- Kyoto is only about one-thirteenth of what the high priests of global warming insist must be done. So-called "green" schemes, aren't green. Their real purpose is to make it so expensive to use fossil-fuel energy that we're forced to use less, not because we don't need it but because we can't afford it.

Margaret Wente: No matter what Alberta's Oil Companies do, they're guilty

For environmental groups, the dead ducks [at Syncrude] were a godsend. They cemented in the public mind the idea that oil sands mean dirty oil, which means the rape and pillage of the environment. For the industry, it was a public relations catastrophe - especially since Alberta was waging an all-out campaign to convince the world that oil sands development is environmentally sustainable.

Thomas Sowell: A Rookie President

We now have a rookie President of the United States and, in the dangerous world we live in, with terrorist nations going nuclear, just one rookie mistake can bring disaster down on this generation and generations yet to come.

What is even worse than making mistakes is having sycophants telling you that you are doing fine when you are not. In addition to all the usual hangers-on and supplicants for government favors that every President has, Barack Obama has a media that will see no evil, hear no evil and certainly speak no evil. They will cheer him on, no matter what he does, short of first-degree murder-- and they would make excuses for that.

What I'm Reading

Lorrie Goldstein lambastes all of the hypocrites who participated in Earth Hour last night.

As for the rest of you, congratulations. Because if a billion people around the world joined you in turning off their lights for an hour last night, while telepathically singing Kumbaya together and giving the Earth a great, big, warm (oh !@?!@$#, I mean a "cool") hug, you just saved the equivalent amount of greenhouse gas emissions from going into the atmosphere that China emits every ... six seconds.

Mark Steyn outlines how Barack the Benevolent is going to change the fractured world into one harmonious world - his.

The 44th president is proposing to add more to the national debt than the first 43 presidents combined, doubling it in the next six years, and tripling it within the decade. But to talk about it in percentages of this and trillions of that misses the point. It's not about bookkeeping, it's about government annexation of the economy, and thus of life: government supervision, government regulation, government control. No matter how small your small business is – plumbing, hairdressing, maple-sugaring – the state will be burdening you with more permits, more paperwork, more bureaucracy.

The National Post has a comprehensive & interesting article on Canada's Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister, Jason Kenney. As someone who directly interfaces with various immigrant communities on a regular basis, I applaud his efforts in the loudest possible way!

I LOVE the fact that we have so many new immigrants from all over the world but I absolutely believe that they have a duty to learn English (or French). In fact, I think it should become a requirement to attain citizenship. Also, I believe that the self-imposed ghettos that have been created in various cities is unhealthy to the extreme.

My message to immigrants is simple: Welcome to Canada, but become a true Canadian, not a hyphenated one!

Future Headline: All Media & Hollywood Wages to be Capped

I shuddered when I read this article about Obama's possible plans to cap the wages of many more private companies, even those which have received no government bailouts. The reaction to this in many quarters still seems muted at best and even supportive at worst. So I thought it appropriate to offer this prospective future news story, which is [currently] just a work of fiction:

WASHINGTON: Today the Obama administration announced a new bill which will cap the wages of all members of the media, as well as everyone working in the television, movie, and music industries.

"Every person working in any of these areas will have their remuneration capped to a maximum of $10,000 per month or $100K per year, whichever is less", said Obama spokesman, Robert Gibbs. "This includes but is not limited to writers, news anchors, actors, directors, and producers. Any wages or other kinds of payments exceeding these amounts will be met with a 105% income tax. We have great confidence that our longtime allies in these businesses will support this initiative for the good of their fellow citizens and the good of the USSA."

When asked whether these amounts will ever go up, Gibbs said, "there is a clause in the bill that the amounts will be reviewed only once the entire U.S. debt has been done away with. Until then, no, they will not change."

Katie Couric, Matt Damon, and Barbra Streisand were all contacted for this story but refused comment.

Later in the day President Obama was quoted as saying, "Because of the financial crisis at hand, this bill must be voted on and signed within 48 hours. Failure to do so may result in dire permanent consequences for our nation."

Rex Murphy: The Hypocrisy of National Geographic

Thanks to commenter Mary T, I learned of this video editorial from Rex Murphy. He points out an obvious fact, which is seemingly beyond the grasp of understanding of many on the Left: In order to enjoy the benefits of the modern society, some parts of the Earth need to be damaged, even if just temporarily. Failure to do this means no energy, no materials, and ultimately no modern lifestyle.

Can Canada's Demise Be Far Off?

Which side of the war would you like to be on? [Mark Steyn]

Old-fashioned types might think that those Britons - okay, make that "Britons" - helping to manufacture bombs for the Taliban are engaged in an act of treason. But, as a current court case in Quebec helps clarify, giving support to the Queen's enemies in their attempts to kill your compatriots is now just another vibrant, colorful manifestation of cultural diversity.

As the International Free Press Society notes, Said Namouh is on trial up north for aiding and abetting terrorism. The Crown charges that Mr Namouh distributed jihadist snuff videos, offered advice on bomb-making, volunteered his expertise for a planned truck bombing, and threatened governnments (including Canada's) with troops in Afghanistan. Defense counsel René Duvall doesn't deny any of this, but says his client's enthusiasm for violent jihad is protected on grounds of freedom of religion and (mirthless chuckle from your humble typist) Canadians' cherished right to freedom of expression. As Maître Duvall put it outside the court, "Where do you draw the line?"

In fact, the line seems to be pretty clear: If a jihadist says he wants to kill Canadian troops, he's just exercising his right to freedom of religion. If I quote what he said in Canada's biggest-selling news weekly, we'll be charged with "flagrant Islamophobia" and hauled up in court.

Meanwhile, the genius jurists at the British Columbia "Human Rights" Tribunal (which devoted one day of last June's show trial to examining the "tone" of my jokes) have rejected a "hate speech" complaint against the Koran. Fair enough, but the grounds for rejection are striking:

Humphreys dismissed the case after ruling that Simpson’s complaint would not further the purposes of the Human Rights Code.

As Commissar Humphreys sees it, the "Human Rights" Code is not merely a set of laws to be applied to all citizens equally, but has ideological objectives which take precedence.

Sarah Palin's Clothes vs. Barack Obama's Pork

Has anyone else noticed that the same MSM that was obsessed with Sarah Palin's wardrobe budget (estimated to be upwards of $150,000) has absolutely no curiosity whatsoever for how the so-called stimulus funds are going to be spent?

Barack Obama's current "stimulus" package (aka "PorkFest") is sitting at $820,000,000,000. That is Five Million, Four Hundred and Sixty Six Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty Seven (5,466,667) times more money . . . and yet the the vast majority of the MSM chooses to not question how any of it will be spent.

And those same members of the MSM have the audacity to tell us that they have no particular political bias!

The Radical Left, Flying Shoes, & Hypocrisy

You might recall back on December 14th that an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at then U.S. President George Bush. On February 19th he's going to have his day in court and could face 15 years in prison.

What I find most amazing is the reaction from the Bush-hating Radical Left. The general chant in the Obamabot Conga Line is that the fellow, Muntader al-Zaidi, should be given a medal. Can you just imagine their reaction if someone did that to their Messiah aka Barack Obama?!?

There's only one word for such morons: Hypocrites!!!
