Ugly Americans

I'm actually a fan of Fox News but have never enjoyed this Red Eye show. I wonder if any of these people bothered to find out that 112 Canadian soldiers have given their lives in Afghanistan? If you ever wondered where the phrase "Ugly American" comes from, this is a prime example.

Wasn't it Harold MacMillan who told his Cabinet "Canada will of course, render ever assistance short of help"?' That canerduh is a laffingstock comes as a big shock to you, Robert? Now I'm shocked; you know better.

Laughing at Canada's contribution in Afghanistan is equivalent to spitting on the graves of our dead soldiers.

Ah, but the Americans see that they've lost as many troops in Afcrapistan in a single year as Canada has in total since Operation Eroding Freedom was so foolishly begun.
The giggling idiots on this show (whom we're taking far too seriously anyway, however...) mention the lack of tanks. Its true, so was the forest green camo etc.

"I thought that was where you go if you don't want to fight ..."
That seems the case, there's all sorts of deserters etc here, particularly in BC.
"would canerduh be able to get away with this if they didn't share a border with the most powerful country in the universe?"
"No..."
And it eats canerdians up inside to have to admit it.
They mock canerduh's carefully crafted image as the wimpy PC metro sexual of the America's, would-be effete Eurosnots. So, who crafted that image? Not the Americans.
Besides, the show is on at 3 am, five people are watching, and we all know the other meaning of "red eye". ;-)

I like the "giggling idiots", my term was going to be pompous asses.
Thanks to years of underfunding of the military by the libs we have become a joke, and rightfully so in some instances, as in the green uniforms in the desert, old equipment, lack of equipment..... it is embarrassing. But our soldiers are some of the finest, doing a great job despite it all.
I do wish not everything was aired in the media. So if they take a year to recoup, don't blab about it.
When the Switzerland felt that an invasion was imminent by nazi Germany, they bluffed, saying that they were ready.
Really, when it comes to military readiness, you don't want to let potential enemies know about any weaknesses.
I want honesty and openness from our politicians, yes. The military should keep some things quiet.

Agreed, however, that would be incredibly tuff to do as the media often seem to delight in giving aid and comfort to the enemy including the reporting of all sorts of military matters that are better kept hush hush.

Then maybe we need to put some limits on what the media can spread all over, specially when it comes to national security, to military matters.
Many in the media seem to have no discretion or respect; it's all about getting a story, no matter who might get hurt. Actually, it's a malaise all through society.

So true, since Turdeau; but I would add that Muldoon's PCs were no better, and he shafted BC over the frigates, the only upside of that being the Fat Pat Uprising it triggered.
Remember Valdy composing a National Anthem for BC? All the proposed flag designs? What shall we call ourselves, BC or Cascadia or Sitka or what? ...
Ah yes, good days. :-)

Some years back a friend who hails from parts far from these waters had seen a documentary on Vimy Ridge. He was quite proud of his new-found knowledge, but was still puzzled over one key aspect the film hadn't seemed to convey.
How, he asked me, were the Canadians able to take the ridge when the others had failed?
I replied that witnesses on both the Allied and German sides of the battle put it down to simply "sheer ferocity".
No-one was laffing in those days. How far we've come.
