By the time the playoffs arrive, Matts Sundin should be rounding into mid season form, Luongo will be fresher for time off (sometimes an injury can be a blessing in disguise), with finally some balance to the scoring, if they can stay healthy, I figure the Canucks are in a position to make some noise in the playoffs.
The Sharks are falling apart right on schedule (its just their bad luck the Cup isn't handed out in January), Detroit's goaltending is suspect; there's really no Goliath in the Western Conference.
I think fans have reason to feel excited. :-)
