He was quite proud of his new-found knowledge, but was still puzzled over one key aspect the film hadn't seemed to convey.
How, he asked me, were the Canadians able to take the ridge when the others had failed?
I replied that witnesses on both the Allied and German sides of the battle put it down to simply "sheer ferocity".
No-one was laffing in those days. Actually, it's a malaise all through society.nachtwachehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00253203966548723755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14015236.post-90840576308426018592009-03-22T00:31:00.000-07:002009-03-22T00:31:00.000-07:00"I do wish not everything was aired in the media. ..."I do wish not everything was aired in the media. But our soldiers are some of the finest, doing a great job despite it all.
I do wish not everything was aired in the media. So if they take a year to recoup, don't blab about it.
When the Switzerland felt that an invasion was imminent by nazi Germany, they bluffed, saying that they were ready.
Really, when it comes to military readiness, you don't want to let potential enemies know about any weaknesses.
I want honesty and openness from our politicians, yes. The military should keep some things quiet.nachtwachehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00253203966548723755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14015236.post-66041595286727233062009-03-20T20:40:00.000-07:002009-03-20T20:40:00.000-07:00Ah, but the Americans see that they've lost as man...Ah, but the Americans see that they've lost as many troops in Afcrapistan in a single year as Canada has in total since Operation Eroding Freedom was so foolishly begun.
The giggling idiots on this show (whom we're taking far too seriously anyway, however...) mention the lack of tanks. Its true, so was the forest green camo etc.

"I thought that was where you go if you don't want to fight ..."
That seems the case, there's all sorts of deserters etc here, particularly in BC.
"would canerduh be able to get away with this if they didn't share a border with the most powerful country in the universe?"
"No..."
And it eats canerdians up inside to have to admit it.
They mock canerduh's carefully crafted image as the wimpy PC metro sexual of the America's, would-be effete Eurosnots. So, who crafted that image? Not the Americans.
Besides, the show is on at 3 am, five people are watching, and we all know the other meaning of "red eye". ;-)David in North Burnaby BChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04660731947857473298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14015236.post-77519683973992551432009-03-20T15:19:00.000-07:002009-03-20T15:19:00.000-07:00Laughing at Canada's contribution in Afghanistan i...Laughing at Canada's contribution in Afghanistan is equivalent to spitting on the graves of our dead soldiers.Robert W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11450265399740128136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14015236.post-29133569238081188602009-03-20T14:56:00.000-07:002009-03-20T14:56:00.000-07:00Wasn't it Harold MacMillan who told his Cabinet "C...Wasn't it Harold MacMillan who told his Cabinet "Canada will of course, render ever assistance short of help"?'
