Question for Canadians

In order to better fund Canadian athletes for future Olympics, all public employees and politicians making over $75,000 per year will receive a permanent 1% cut in pay. The savings from this will be given directly to Canadian athletes.

Would you support or oppose such a move?

I support a pay cut on politicians and all public sector employees (not to mention robust reductions in force to remove waste, but that's another topic for another day), but I would not funnel the money to people pursuing their hobbies, which is what athletes are. Let the private sector fund athletes as they see fit.

I would not support it. The Lotto 6/49 was set up to fund Sports. Any other replacement for it, would allow those that have placed the proceeds into General Revenue get away with an immoral act.

Cheers, Gary.
