USS Arizona Memorial

As I mentioned previously, the Memorial is a very solemn place. Thinking about the fact that 1,177 men died there provides a very overwhelming feeling. At the same time, it is beautiful and extremely peaceful.

After the upper part of the ship was removed this, the upper gun turret's base, was the highest point on the ship.
Even after 66 years, the ship has continued to leak drops of oil. They're often described as the tears coming from the ship.

Here's the USS Missouri, seen from the inner port-side.
This is the bridge coming over from the mainland to Ford Island.

You'll notice on the list of the deceased that there are many similar names. In fact, there were 26 pairs of brothers and one father & son who died that day. More info on this can be found here.
Here's a web page with a 3-D view of the interior of the Memorial.
