"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" - The Who

The United States of America was founded in 1776 because the hard working citizens of what was then a colony of England, grew tired of unaccountable, irresponsible government.

Today Tea Party demonstrations are occurring all over America. These are heartfelt protests against over-taxation by all levels of government. Make no mistake, the protests are also against both the Democrats and the Republicans.

And how does the Obama Administration, purported to be more open to dialogue than ever before, respond? By coordinating with the Homeland Security Department they now control and issuing a new document a few days ago entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment". If you think the timing of this is mere coincidence, you're in more denial than Larry Craig thinking he's straight.

Even some people back in Jolly Olde' England are aware of how insipid this is. Imagine if this were occurring in a different country: A government controlled security agency, with more power than the police, releases a highly politicized report a week before scheduled citizen tax protests, insinuating that some of these protestors may be "Right Wing Extremists". This is the kind of thing that occurs in places like North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, and the old USSR and has served as a highly effective way to shut up opponents, even if such opponents are protesting peacefully and democratically.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. 233 years later, Americans are facing a very similar tyranny once again. Scary times ahead.

My blog buddy, Conservative Scalawag, is taking part in this. He's not a happy American!

Personally, I think Americans don't pay enough taxes, especially dating back to when GWB thought it was a great idea to cut taxes and invade Iraq at the same time.

I would agree with the sentiments behind these protests, but the timing is woefully late and hypocritical; late as these actions should have taken place 6 years ago, and hypocritical as they protest against a big liberal government, but where were they when a big conservative government was in office?

These people are protesting against ridiculous amounts of unaccountable spending and the tax increases that will be necessary for decades to cover the costs.

Just because you've overdosed on the Socialist Kool-Aid and have long ago bent over to government and welcomed them to do to you & your family anything they want doesn't mean that others have to follow your path of choice.

Better late than never, but there is a point of no return when it comes things like these, and the real question is, is it too late?

American voters and taxpayers are the ones who overdosed on, became addicted to, and bent over before the Big Socialist-Conservative Government since the 60s with LBJ's Great Society and Vietnam War because people believed America can afford BOTH Guns AND Butter...was that not an example of "ridiculous amounts of unaccountable spending"?

Plus there was the draft at that time; nothing like forced military service oversea to make people believe that they are Big Government property.

Then came the 70s with the inflationary consequences that was the result of such "ridiculous amounts of unaccountable spending"; how many people realized that inflation is a stealth tax increase caused by increased government spending and hugh budeget deficits?

Then in the 80s, Ronald Reagan blew the budget yet again with "ridiculous amounts of unaccountable spending" just so that the US armed forces can be expanded, upgraded, and updated.
Where were these protests then?

Quite frankly, it has been decades and all these costs has yet to be covered and paid for. The US Government had been welcomed and allowed to do anything and everything they wanted with the taxpayers dollars for nearly 50 years now, and the voters have continued to approve it.

Until now, it seems. Let's see how far this goes.

And the sad thing in comparision is, Germany is about to pay off it's WW1 reparations soon.

Interesting historical take. Thank you. Speaking of Reagan, I remember his famous 1964 speech when he spoke about America's debt being too large then.
