The Delusions of the Left

I just heard a guy on the radio say that all conservative political parties are doomed because "smarter, more well educated people" only vote for left-of-center parties.

Really? This might be the nightly wet dream of Leftists the world over but I don't think it holds even a tiny degree of truth.

I wonder how this fellow would explain the massive landslide against his favoured Leftist thinking yesterday in California?!? Oh wait, facts don't actually matter for people like him so such results are irrelevant.

Calling Out a Bully (Language Warning)

On this video I just received the following message from this guy:

If you conclude from one car accident that drivers in Vancouver are out of control then you sir, are a fucking retard.

So I sent him/it this message:

A Question

I'm just curious, do you normally walk the down the street and say to a person, "You sir, are a fucking retard?"

If this is normal behaviour for you then I would strongly recommend that you contact the following agency for help:

Mental Health Services Central Office
200-520 West 6th Avenue
Vancouver, BC
V5Z 4H5

Tel: 604.874.7626

Seriously, seek them out. You really need to get some help before things get further out of control.

Brilliant Comment from Small Dead Animals

I read a comment on Small Dead Animals this morning that deserves reposting:

Every leftie should have to join a 12-step program because they are deep in the throes of co-dependency. "Victims" (read Palestinian Gazans) are never responsible for the mess they're in; it's always someone else's fault. 'No need to call the Palestinians to account for their behaviour because they're so obviously (sic) victims.

In the Hamas-Israeli conflict, the leftist brain computes that because Hamas has more casualties it's OBVIOUSLY the Israelis who are at fault--and the Palestinians that need the West's support. The leftist brain seems unable to factor in the the Israelis' competency in protecting their citizens, whereas the Palestinians seem quite happy to ensure collateral damage in their citizenry by storing their weapons arsenals amongst their wives and children. Hey, good way to gain the sympathy of the useful leftist idiots.

It's a curious blindness to see only the "victims'" plight and not their participation in their own misfortune. It's misplaced compassion to think that you can help victims by swathing them in cotton batten when, in fact, you're actually ghettoizing them twice: first, by giving them a pass in their original dysfunction and second, by consigning them to their squalid lives by requiring no responsibility or accountability--in other words, others must fix the situation, not the victims.

The leftist brain needs help.

Secular "Progressives" Attack Christianity ... Again!

The Radical Left in Washington State are mocking Christianity, fully sanctioned by the Governor of the state:

And at least one Canadian is just lovin' it! Note: He's a supporter of the Coalition. Oh there's a surprise. Sigh.

To show Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire the same respect she is showing Christians, I would hereby like to nominate her & George Costanza as two permanent saints of Washington State's Festivus:

The Liberal Mind Analyzed by a Psychologist

This book is priceless! Here are some key points in a recent review:

"A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do."

Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

  • creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
  • satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
  • augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
  • rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.

"The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

Discussion with a Derangement Syndrome Victim

After referring a Democrat voter to the Liberal Escape Plan comedy video here's the discussion that transpired between us:

Her: "Thank you for that. But how did you know I'm not for McCain!?!? ;-) It's because I travel and am automatically an intelligent person who understands that knowledge of foreign affairs extends beyond looking over Russia's borders, isn't it!?!?!"

Me: "I travel and probably know more about American and global politics than most Americans. Yet I think that Obama will be the worst disaster your country has ever encountered. Is it okay for me to have a differing opinion than you or am I automatically a moron for not agreeing?"

Her: "Absolutely not! I have a very open mind. But he at least is not evil like McCain."

That's a great conversation ender. The thing is, the last sentence from her was not made tongue-in-cheek.

Obama Compulsive Disorder

The hallowed NBC brand of old is now devolved into MSNBC's Matthews-Olbermann embarrassment. The once revered Atlantic Monthly now hosts blogger Andrew Sullivan trafficking in rumors that Gov. Palin's daughter really delivered her Down Syndrome child, and then hires an unhinged photographer (best known previously for making children cry to make political statements) who brags post facto that she tried to subvert her own cover photos of McCain, before posting creepy photo-shopped out-takes of him on her website. To read a NY Times columnist is to be told ad nauseam that Gov. Palin is a bumpkin hockey mom. Whether an US magazine cover picture of Palin, or the Washington Post's recycling old stories about Cindy McCain, the result is always the same: a concerted effort to ensure an Obama election.

The university crowd weighs in with op-eds warning us about white rural culture and the toxic landscapes that raised Sarah Palin, or why she is a counterfeit woman who piggybacked on the heroic work of pro-abortion pioneers. Every day another Hollywood dimwit—a Matt Damon, Lindsay Lohan, or Chevy Chase—attacks Palin or McCain in a fashion as crude as it is half-educated and incoherent.

Is it that hard to see, then, why McCain is dead-even or ahead—even when the incumbent Republican brand is suffering by association to war, economic uncertainty, and now financial meltdown?

There is a growing public anger at the petty amateurish biases of those who claim they are sophisticated and subtle; and it is not just that they sympathize with a smeared Palin, but are angry that the media thinks they are so stupid not to catch on. The odder thing still is that the media obsession has turned into some sort of compulsive disorder—they know that they are way out of bounds; know that they are hurting their own candidate Obama— and they know that they simply can't and won't quit now.

My Mom's Letter to Tony Clement, Federal Minister of Health

The Honourable Tony Clement
Minister of Health
Minister's Office - Health Canada
Brooke Claxton Building, Tunney's Pasture
Postal Locator: 0906C
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
K1A 0K9

Dear Sir,

I am a retired nurse and a senior citizen. I’m also a volunteer visitor counselor at Tourism Vancouver, giving out information to tourists visiting our city. You may be surprised to learn that a growing number of these visitors are well informed about Vancouver being the Drug Capital of Canada. When they want to visit Chinatown we have to advise them about the safest routes to walk there. We also warn them not to give money to panhandlers and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. If traveling by car, we urge them to leave nothing visible inside their vehicles. This is the sad reality of life in Vancouver in 2008.

I live in the South Granville neighbourhood. It’s supposedly one of the better ones in the city and yet I have countless panhandlers asking me for spare change daily. I now carry a pocket alarm which I will set off if I’m ever threatened. This is the sad reality of life in Vancouver in 2008.

The law-abiding citizens in our cities have to now be concerned with which restaurants they can eat at safely, which nightclubs they can go to safely, and which streets they can walk down when the sun goes dim. This is the sad reality of life in Vancouver in 2008.

The common thread running through most of these problems is severe drug abuse. I therefore plead with you to close the free needle terror that is Insite. It is not helping drug users get better but is only prolonging their misery. I fully realize that there are a lot of political forces that claim that Insite is helping to “reduce harm” but it is a huge fallacy. Those proponents like Larry Campbell and Philip Owen should be ashamed of themselves.

Please convert this facility into a Recovery Detox Centre for the endless number of drug addicts in Vancouver. And then set up more in all of our municipalities. I do know there are treatment centres in Prince George and Bowen Island. We need many more!

Rachel: Yet Another Permanent Victim

Last night, on Big George's show on BBC London, a young woman named Rachel called up. She's an aspiring Jazz singer but is also clinically depressed and uses illegal drugs to self-medicate. She calls him up on a regular basis and moans about the same things over & over. While many instantly feel sorry for people like her, I've learned that doing so actually accomplishes more harm than good. Herein is the letter I sent to George.

I've known people like Rachel all my life. They spend most of their time each day erecting obstacles in their minds. Rather than thinking about what they "can" or "must" do today, instead they repeatedly focus on these words: "I can't because ...."

While some proponents of positive thinking perhaps take things a bit too far at times, let's look at the opposite, what we can call the "Rachel track". If someone is repeatedly running a negative loop in their head, I can absolutely guarantee you that their success rate - in anything - will be near zero. In her case, she claims that she wants to be a Jazz singer. She doesn't really want this though, does she? Instead she prefers dwelling in self-pity and having people feel sorry for her. It's comfortable and familiar.

Everyone feels sorry for themselves at times. It's natural. The key is to not get sucked into the pattern of becoming a permanent victim or what some call an "energy vampire". I strongly recommend that Rachel get a copy of the Celestine Prophecy, a 1993 novel by James Redfield. I read it 15 years ago and it changed my life. There's one chapter in particular where he compares "aggressors" and "victims". While at first glance they appear to be at opposite ends of the personality spectrum, in fact they're fairly closely connected. For both steal energy from others; the first through anger and sometimes violence and the second through guilt and pity. But the end result is the same: they coerce others to do what they want through negative manipulation.

I wish the very best for Rachel. Maybe one day she'll realize that she is much better off than 80% of the population of the earth. Maybe one day she'll realize that rather than constantly focusing on her own problems, she could be volunteering her time to help others less fortunate than her. Ultimately it's her choice and her responsibility. I, for one, won't be feeling sorry for her whichever path she chooses. Why? Because offering her pity simply helps her extend her current life of misery.

A Little Truth from a Kyoto Proponent

I've long been curious about where the ultra-pro Kyoto proponents expect society to go. Now I finally know. Sea Shepherd founder, Paul Watson, has finally come clean with his true thoughts. In a unibomber-like endless rant, Watson makes these glorious points:

  • Human beings are much like a virus that must be stopped.
  • "I don't apologize for calling humans the 'AIDS of the Earth'."
  • There is only one cure, only one way of stopping this rising epidemic.... This will require a complete overhaul of all of humanities economic, cultural, and life style systems.
  • Human communities should be maintained in small population enclaves within linked wilderness ecosystems. No human community should be larger than 20,000 people.
  • We need to radically and intelligently reduce human populations to fewer than one billion.
  • We need to stop burning fossil fuels and utilize only wind, water, and solar power with all generation of power coming from individual or small community units like windmills, waterwheels, and solar panels.
  • Sea transportation should be by sail.
  • All consumption should be local. No food products need to be transported over hundreds of miles to market. All commercial fishing should be abolished. If local communities need to fish the fish should be caught individually by hand.
  • Preferably vegan and vegetarian diets can be adopted.
  • We need to lower populations of domestic housecats and dogs.
  • We need to stop flying, stop driving cars, and jetting around on marine recreational vehicles. The Amish survive without cars and so can the rest of us.
  • Who should have children? Those who are responsible and completely dedicated to the responsibility which is actually a very small percentage of humans. Being a parent should be a career.
  • Schools can be eliminated if the professional parent is also the educator of the child.
  • Curing a body of cancer requires radical and invasive therapy, and therefore, curing the biosphere of the human virus will also require a radical and invasive approach.

If, by chance, you agree with what this guy is saying then:
  1. You are a hypocrite because of the very fact that you're reading this on a computer. No new technology would ever be invited in Watson's little world.
  2. Immediately move out of whatever abode you're living in and far from any community larger than 20,000. Start walking your talk!
  3. Get immediate psychological help and find out why you hate your species so much.
If you ever wondered where the environmental fundamentalists want to take us, now you know.
