Secular "Progressives" Attack Christianity ... Again!

The Radical Left in Washington State are mocking Christianity, fully sanctioned by the Governor of the state:

And at least one Canadian is just lovin' it! Note: He's a supporter of the Coalition. Oh there's a surprise. Sigh.

To show Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire the same respect she is showing Christians, I would hereby like to nominate her & George Costanza as two permanent saints of Washington State's Festivus:

Here's a fascinating map showing all the earmarks (what some might call "pork") throughout Washington State:

The Magnificent Smith Tower

I've visited Seattle many times in my life but until now, had never gone up to the top of the Smith Tower. I should have long ago!

Pacific Northwest Trip: Day 7

Here are some scenes taken from the University District of Seattle. The first one shows Mount Rainer.

Our car was JAM-PACKED with luggage and Trader Joe's groceries. In fact, I forgot to make room for my mom! But thanks to Danny's packing expertise (he credits his mom for this skill) we were able to fit everything in ... though barely!

Arriving at the border, the Canada Customs guard didn't ask one question about how much we had bought in the U.S. My mom wished she had bought a case of wine rather than just the legal limit!!

Final Evening of our Trip

All three of us were quite tired so we just had a quiet evening, eating a local restaurant near our hotel. It was good food and the perfect way to close out the long day.

The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks

Also known locally as The Ballard Locks, this waterway offers an interesting glimpse at engineering technology to allow boats to travel to/from the Pacific Ocean and Lake Union. The fresh water lake is located 20 - 22 feet above sea level.

Seattle Scenes

I had deliberately left the final few days of our trip open and flexible. Originally I was strongly thinking of staying overnight in Port Townsend, then taking the ferry over to Whidbey Island the next day, and then driving home.

But instead we decided to return to Seattle. As Danny had not yet been there on this trip, he was eager to visit. Our first stop was at Fry's Electronics in Renton, where we dropped Danny off and gave him a few hours to explore. Anyone technologically inclined (aka "a geek") would perfectly understand!
My mom & I then continued up to the University District where we checked in again at the fabulous Hotel Deca - thanks Hotwire!
We then picked up Danny (after I did a little browsing too!) and drove back to Seattle. He captured all of the next few photos.

After visiting the waterfront we drove up to Kerry Park in the Queen Anne neighbourhood. From this vantage point, one can capture some of the very best photos of Seattle.
There were lots of people and dogs lounging around, enjoying the brilliant sunshine. He looked very similar to a wonderful dog in Florida named Gigi who we knew. Unfortunately she passed away last year.

Pacific Northwest Trip: Day 6

I woke up long before my Mom or Danny so I decided to take an early morning walk.

The next 3 photos are actually of Pacific Beach, which is the community just south of Moclips.

Why is Danny pointing a hair dryer at the freezer section of our fridge? Two words: Da Clara! My mom decided to refreeze our ice cooler's ice pack so she stuck it in the freezer compartment the night before. She left it there all night, not realizing that it would expand to the freezer's walls. After several unsuccessful tugs to pull it out, we had to resort to a little creative engineering!

Pacific Northwest Trip: Day 5

Our time in Portland was over. But before heading out, we needed some food for the road. And where better to get it than from my favourite, Otto's Sausage Kitchen!
Have you ever seen better looking hot dogs than these? They tasted even better!

Reaching the Oregon Coast, we found the weather to be miserable and cold. So we quickly headed north toward Washington State. To get there we had to cross the 4.1 mile long Astoria-Megler Bridge.

Our final destination was the Ocean Crest Resort, a motel just south of Moclips, Washington. I had driven Hwy 101 before, all the way from Port Angeles to San Francisco, but had never ventured out to this part of the coast of Washington.

The accommodations are very simple, clean, & comfortable. But they have a first class restaurant that offers gourmet food comparable to the finest establishments in any big city.

If you happen to know what this raccoon is doing, please fill the rest of us in!
