Is Political Correctness Now Firmly in Control of BC Politics?
First Ray Lam withdraws because the Liberals found some so-called "racy" photos on his Facebook page. I publicly stated on here and elsewhere that this was ridiculous for him to leave the race. Let the voters in his constituency decide if they want him as their MLA.
Then the NDP digs up something that Marc Dalton said 13 years ago. More to the point, nothing he said was hateful, he was just expressing his views of homosexuality at the time. Whether or not you or I agree with him is not the point. What is key is how many people in our province have so completely dismissed the concept of Free Speech. I can't decide whether to view them as more Pathetic or just Downright Scary.
Now there are cries for John van Dongen to withdraw because he has too many speeding tickets. It would be most interesting to look into the personal histories of those making such demands to see how incredibly perfect they are!
And lest we forget, all the while this is going on, very little of substance is being discussed in the actual campaign. Is it any wonder why so many British Columbians have become incredibly cynical towards all politicians? Two words to leave you with: Go Canucks!

Pressing Election Question of the Day
Here's an e-mail I just sent to Jon McComb at CKNW:
Jon,
On your website right now is a poll question asking who won the debate.
In this New Age Kumbaya World that we now all co-habitate, is it really proper to keep score any more? In picking out winners & losers, might we not be damaging the psychological self-esteem of our political leaders?
And come to think of it, still calling them "leaders" really isn't appropriate either, is it? They're more like guides, showing us through the Forest of Life.
<>
Oh sorry, Jon, I don't know what got into me just a moment ago. I do recall walking past the Art Gallery on 4/20 and lingering there a bit longer than I should have. :-)
Looking forward to your show today!

Carole James the Dullard
This is the woman who is promising to deliver Hope & Change to British Columbians. She has also promised fresh new ideas and a new political discourse. Yet today we see her on a somewhat more familiar tack. Pathetic. Actually, beyond pathetic.

NDP Election Propaganda
I was walking in front of VGH today and came across this "protest" rally. I put the "P" word in quotes because anyone who thinks that this was purely about the cause at hand is kiddin' themselves. This is pure NDP politics, pure & simple. The messages for the cameras was clear: These workers, mostly women, are being taken advantage of "by that horrible Gordon Campbell".Will people fall it? As tens of thousands of people in the private sector are starting to lose their jobs because of the global recession, will people now start to feel sorry for public sector workers? I wonder.

The Repugnant Tip of the NDP Spear
British Columbia's election campaign seems to have gotten started in the minds of many. And from what I've seen already, some NDP supporters are determined to make it U-G-L-Y.
This morning, Kash Heed was interviewed on CKNW. After 30 years of being involved with policing, he has declared his candidacy for the provincial Liberal party. He's a very well spoken person and had some very interesting things to say.
Sure enough though, the call seems to have gone out to the thugs on the Radical Left. One fellow called up, had nothing particularly important to ask but simply wanted to insert the term "child eater" into the minds of the public. In case you're not aware, this is reference to a YouTube ad published a while back by COPE 378, a public sector union. It was a failed attempt at humour and a good nominee for Stupidest Election Ploy ever.
Yet this same union is not backing down. They're now running a series of other ads on 'NW that refers back to the original YouTube one. These people are so filled with H-A-T-E (I use the term accurately) that nothing will stop them from backing down. They remind me of that strange guy who is an univited friend of a friend at a party. He isn't funny, isn't polite, but simply resembles an obnoxious boor. Eventually he's asked to leave (by Carole James at some point, I'd assume) but then he even turns on her.
I was never in favour of the gag law and cite COPE 378 as a [not so] third party that needs to have their voice heard. Only then will the public understand how incredibly vile one key part of the NDP hierarchy truly is.

Liberals Broke, No Election Possible For 6 Months
I was hoping for a new election in March but according to Mike Duffy it simply isn't possible for the Liberals to mount an election campaign anytime soon.
".... and this whole thing about an election at the end of January, first of February, we've checked all the math: Liberals couldn't fund it, even if they wanted to. It's got to be at least six month down the road before they get their rebates from the federal government that they could consider going to an election."
Is it possible that the once might Liberal Party of Canada is going down the same path as the Big 3 Automakers?

Gregor Robertson's American Friends
David Berner has an excellent and detailed column about precisely where Vancouver's Vision candidate, Gregor Robertson, is getting much of his campaign money from. Please read it. If you're as disturbed by this foreign intrusion into our election process as I am then you will go out and vote this Saturday, against Robertson!

Obama's Foreign Campaign Donations
At 1:07:00 (1 hour & 7 minutes) into John Batchelor's latest show is a detailed examination into the "strange" campaign donations made to the Obama Campaign. You will learn about strange donation amounts, made via credit card, to the campaign. Such amounts include the following: $188.67, $1,542.06, $876.09, $388.67, $282.20, $195.66, $118.15.
Do these sound like donation amounts that Americans would make via their credit cards? Of course not. It is now assumed that these are foreign donations and the strange amounts are the result of foreign currency conversions.
In case you're not aware, it is absolutely illegal for even $0.01 of foreign donations to an American election campaign. Don't believe me? Please click here.
You'd thus think that the mainstream media would be all over this story, right? You'd be wrong. This is one of the few stories I could find on it.

Grassroots Campaign in Canada
There are less than three weeks until the election, an election that will decide the next Prime Minister of Canada.
The person elected will be the Prime Minister of 'all' Canadians, not just the Liberals or the Conservatives. It's time that we all came together, Liberals and Conservatives alike.
If you support the policies and character of Stephen Harper, please drive with your headlights on during the day.
If you support Stephane Dion, please drive with your headlights off at night.
Together, we can make it happen!

One Cannot Help But Feel Pity for Stephane Dion
From the beginning I have felt that Stephane Dion is a well meaning man who believes strongly in his world view. I just don't happen to share his politics and think that his plans would be disastrous for Western Canada. With that in mind, watch this clip:
One thing that is ironic is that earlier today I was told by someone that we must all respect political elites such as Dion. She gave that as one of the reasons she detests Sarah Palin.
Contrast the Dion interview with this recent one of Palin and John McCain:

Stephen Harper and the Mysterious $86 Billion
Our friends on the Left in Canada are getting desperate. They know that most voters aren't buying their nonsense so this last week in the election campaign they're going to paint Prime Minister with any combination of the following:
- Scary
- Neo-con
- Bush-lite

Canadian Federal Election: Prediction with 24 Days Left
The Liberals, the NDP, and the Greens are all going to keep on promising endless new programs costing hard working taxpayers who knows how many tens or even hundreds of Billions of dollars. Stephen Harper will stay mostly silent and let these social engineers on the Left out promise each other ad nauseum. Hopefully a majority of Canadian voters will not buy into the 1970's style socialist nirvana and will vote in a much needed Conservative majority government.
If the price to pay for that is us concerned citizens having to listen to copious amounts of twaddle then I for one am willing to do my duty!

Stephane Dion: Spending Like it's 1978!
Have you been following the amount of spending promises Stephane Dion has been making? The National Post has and so has Jonathan Kay. It's up to $80 Billion ... in just 13 days! I don't think it even cost God that much to build the Universe in seven!
Here's a quick comparison of the major parties so far:
- $80.183 Billion - Liberals
- < $20 Billion - Conservatives
- $16.5 Billion - NDP
