Cloverfield

Finally, a little originality from Hollywood! At first I didn't know what to make of Cloverfield. It started out rather slowly for the first 18 minutes, but then suddenly - WOW! - the action heated up and pretty much stayed that way for the rest of the film. What's most unique is that the entire film appears to be shot from the handheld camera of one of the lead characters. This first-hand perspective adds a neat touch of realism.

Remember how you laughed at all those Godzilla movies from Japan? Well, you won't be laughing during this film. It won't be everyone's cup of tea - I wouldn't recommend it to my mom - but I enjoyed it immensely!

Another good reason to see it is because one of the leading roles is played by Vancouver actress, Jessica Lucas.
