Thomas Sowell & Brian Kalt on the Recent Smears

Thomas Sowell is a well regarded conservative author. He shares his views on the recent smears against Sarah Palin:

Brian Kalt is a professor at the Michigan State University College of Law. Here he shares his views on the actual effects of the smears by the Daily Kos Krowd. His opening paragraph just has to be repeated:

Every four years, Democrats in the United States make the same mistake. They underestimate the appeal of the Republican Party to Middle America, and then reduce their own appeal by belittling it. Now, Democrats are falling into the same trap again with Sarah Palin, John McCain’s vice-presidential nominee.

Conrad Black on the U.S. Election

Though some consider him arrogant, there's no denying the Conrad Black is an amazing writer. In a very detailed manner, he shares his thoughts about the platforms of the two parties in the U.S. election.

I would strongly recommend having an online dictionary at the ready, so you can look up words like Lumpenbourgeoisie and Ozymandian.

Note: I imagine that more than a few Obama supporters will dismiss Black's entire column simply because he's writing it from a prison in Florida. That would be a sad mistake.

Next Attack: Sarah Palin's Education

For the next 2 months, as certain as the sun will rise in the east, so will there be another attack on Sarah Palin. Today we read this gem about her post-secondary education. Interesting, but irrelevant.

Any reasonable person would think that Sarah Palin in 2008 is a bright and well spoken person. They might not agree with her political views but trying to slam her intelligence and what she has accomplished in her life is nothing short of sour grapes.

What some Democrat pundits don't seem to realize is that so-called "fact pieces" don't have the effect on Moderates and Republicans that they do on hard core Democrats. Rather than diminishing Palin, they make people more sympathetic to her.

And anyone with an education who belittles someone with less education solely makes the attacker look like an insecure asshole. I meet them all the time here in Vancouver.

IowaHawk Hits Gold ... on the Comedy Front!

My favourite political humour blogger had me in stitches with this post and this one too. His writing is highly sarcastic but very, very funny IMHO.

Note: In the interest of fairness, this column is an interesting one about the good things that community organizers reportedly do. Though this column begs to differ. You'll have to decide where the truth lies!

Prospective McCain-Palin Appointees?

In the interest of fair play, especially toward my friend John, and specifically in relation to this posting, I got to wondering if Sarah Palin might insist that these two brothers be appointed as the Head of the Food & Drug Administration and the Secretary of Education in a McCain-Palin administration:
And you thought last week was exciting? Imagine the first week of these guys in their new roles!

New GOP Ad: Introducing Sarah Palin

The Godmother

This has to be the funniest line of the day:

"The Dems woke up . . . to find a moosehead in their bed."

P. Diddy Vlog

Here's the #1 Obama supporter, P. Diddy. Foul language warning:
If this isn't proof positive that Rap Music rots the brain, I don't know what does!

I wonder if there are any rumours about a White House job for P. Diddy during Obama's tenure? :-)

Peggy Noonan on Sarah Palin's Potential Power

After watching this you'll better understand why our liberal friends are pulling their hair out trying to find some scandal that will "stick" and tear down Sarah Palin. Perhaps after a month of trying and failing, then we can discuss some real issues about the future of America.

Clintononians for McCain ... and so it begins

I just heard an interesting interview with one Cristi Adkins, a former Hillary Clinton supporter who is now adamantly supporting John McCain. Her and some like minded folks have created a website called Clintons4McCain.com.

She's already been attacked by the Obamanation Brown ShirtsTM
as a Republican spy but dismisses this as pure nonsense. My political intuition tells me that this is the start of a huge wave of support toward McCain-Palin. I'll be watching the polls over the coming weeks to see what actually transpires.

Jed Babbin: An Inside Look at the Presidential Campaign

"The liberal establishment -- especially the feminista feathers that cover the left wing -- is scared by Palin’s candidacy. Very scared."

Columnist Jed Babbin has a fascinating article on how Sarah Palin has disrupted the Democrats game plan. Whether your favoured metaphor is two armies fighting against each other or two football teams in the SuperBowl, this is going to be one very interesting & historic election.

Michael Gerson: Team McCain Takes the Lead

The Washington Post's Michael Gerson makes some great points here. I particularly smiled at these parts:

  • On Obama's recent speech: No Democratic class-warfare cliche went unexpressed. No cheap attack on John McCain went unmade -- and made without humor, class or grace. (How could it possibly be an effective Democratic attack to accuse McCain of cowardice in confronting al-Qaeda?)
  • On Sarah Palin's appointment: [She] is unlikely to appeal to the hardest core of Hillary's feminist supporters, she is likely to appeal broadly to most women, who will be undisturbed that she doesn't fit feminist stereotypes.
  • On being part of the McCain team: Palin perfectly fits McCain's reform Republican narrative -- her efforts to oppose the corrupt Republican machine in Alaska have been impressive and popular.

Republicans Fight Back Against the Attacks Toward Palin

Here's a great article about the Republican counter-attack. Here are some choice quotes:

"Maybe it's my own background as a mayor and United States attorney, but this whole idea of executive experience to me would really qualify her," Rudy Giuliani said on CBS' Face the Nation. He added, "I mean I think that she already has more executive experience than Senator Obama and Senator Biden combined."

Senator Fred Thompson added to the refrain when he told CNN's Wolf Blitzer, "Wolf, I hate to break it to you, but you don't get national experience by being on the Sunday talk shows ... She has more experience than Barack Obama."

Speaking on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanapolous," Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (South Carolina) added, "She's done things Obama would never dream of."
