Microsoft's Venture Into Online Mapping

Online mapping websites are a prime example of why competition is a great thing. The past few years we've had great competition from several large companies, all providing better & better online mapping services - and each completely free.

Now Microsoft has stepped up the ante with Windows Live Local. In addition to the standard road maps, you can also flip to Aerial View or to Birds-Eye View. The picture shown was captured from downtown Seattle.

It also has a neat feature called "Locate Me" that can [generally] identify your location based on your IP address, which your computer is picking up in a wired or wireless manner.
