Common Sense Wisdom from Louis C.K.

We live in an amazing, amazing world and it's wasted on the crappiest generation of spoiled idiots that don't care.

Louis C.K. - Oct. 1, 2008

On a very serious note, do you ever observe people who are poster children for the "Crappiest Generation"? Note: While some might think that those under 30 fit the bill, I believe such behaviour isn't directly attributable to one's age.

Why I Could Never Offer Computer Support Professionally

My "dear" mother just called me up to scream at ME that her computer wasn't working. More specifically, she couldn't get into her Gmail with her Firefox browser. I couldn't sort that out so I told her to use Internet Explorer instead. 20 minutes later (okay, 3 minutes later) when she figured out how to click on the Internet Explorer icon, she changed the address to "gmail.com". Then she entered her username and her password. Except that she entered her username incorrectly because she didn't bother to check her typing. She then claimed that she could no longer enter her username correctly, as it kept on changing it to an incorrect one. So I got her to close down that copy of Internet Explorer and open another one instead. When I told her to enter "gmail.com" again she said she didn't know how ... even though she had just done so 7 minutes before.

The phone line then went dead as I threw my phone through the window. I've since looked in the mirror and all of my hair is now white.

If you need my technical help over the weekend, please call me at the Friendly Acres rest home, as I'll be down there preparing for my soon to be certain demise when my brain explodes!

How to make a LOT of money ... without really doing anything

Most every caring parent, wanting their children to succeed, will encourage them to study and work hard, believing this to be a sure recipe for success. And indeed it is.

But one Vancouver entrepreneur has figured out how to bypass the part about all the hard work. He actually makes money every time someone makes a mistake. To learn about how upside down the Internet has turned our conventional thinking, read this (short version) or this (full article).

In his latest venture, Vancouverite Kevin Ham makes money every time someone misspells a ".com" website address as ".cm". I've never done this, but apparently lots of people do. So if instead of typing "www.microsoft.com" you instead type "www.microsoft.cm" you end up on Tam's site, www.agoga.com It's a completely useless website, solely full of only links to advertisements, but apparently more than enough people are clicking on these links to make Ham a very wealthy man.

As for me, I still have this old fashioned notion of building something useful that will actually help people. But I'm not the one with the $300 Million company created out of ... well, nothing. Much like the whole premise of the Seinfeld show. Surely Ham must be laughing all the way to the bank!

World's Shortest Fairy Tale

This is the tag line signature on the e-mail of an exceptionally pretty woman I know from Victoria:

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl "Will you marry me?" The girl said, "NO!" And the girl lived happily ever after and went shopping, dancing, camping, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, had sex with whomever she pleased..... She did whatever the hell she wanted, never argued, didn't get fat, traveled more, had many boyfriends, saved more money, had all the hot water to herself, never had pubic hairs under the toilet seat lid. She watched chick flicks, never had football on, never wore fricken lacy lingerie that went up her ass, had high self esteem, never cried or yelled, felt and looked good in sweat pants and shirt, and burped, swore, and farted all the time.

THE END
