Settlers of Catan

Here's an excellent video tutorial overview of the game that Mark Hing and his friends were playing all weekend:

And here's a short time-lapse video of the game:

They've Done It!!!

It's a little before 8:00am and the boyz in Langley are still playing! This means they've smashed the old Guinness world record and are now racking up the minutes as high as possible to make it exceedingly difficult for others to surpass them. What an AMAZING feat of endurance!!!

Watching the webcam, the voices are much subdued but they've all survived and still seem relatively happy.

Congratulations Gentlemen, Congratulations!!!

Photos from the Langley Board Game World Record Attempt

It's now a little after 1:00am in Metro Vancouver. In 3 hours my friend, Mark Hing, his brother, Martin Philips-Hing, and their 4 friends will break the Guinness Book World Record for Board Game Playing of 42 hours and 48 minutes, set by four Germans in September 2006. Then they plan to smash it! You can read more on their website.

Apparently sometime in the 7 - 9am period, CKNW will be interviewing the game players live. You can listen in here. And live video can still be seen here.

Here are some photos I took yesterday afternoon:

Guinness World Record Attempt This Weekend!

A longtime friend of mine, Mark Hing, is attempting to break a world record and raise money for Cancer Research as well! Please click on the image above to go to their website. You can also read this newspaper story about the event.

In order for everything to be officially recognized, they need 3 volunteers there at any one time. I signed up for one shift but they need more people. The primary requirement is that you MUST be reliable. If you say you're going to be there and don't show up then everything falls through. If you can help, then please visit their Contact Page.

Update: The story even made it in the Montreal Gazette:

Dexterity Game

I challenged Danny to a Typing Speed challenge on Facebook at which I was averaging around 65wpm. He's not touch-typist and didn't fare so well.

But then he directed me to try out this game. All you have to do is keep the red square from touching the blue squares or the black border. Seems easy. It isn't though! I could only reach about 10 seconds, but was often under 3! He said his record is 30 seconds.

Do let me know the best you can do!

Hooked on Snowplow Games

Perhaps it's because of the time of the year or perhaps it's because it's dreary outside, but I've found myself playing the following game more than I should:
