Are We Developing New Technologies Faster than Consumers Can Use Them?

Here's an interesting article from the Wharton School of Business about the marketing & selling of new technology. Contrast the change of technology in our lives these days vs. 50 years ago. Be it computers, cel phones, or a host of other items most of use everyday, it's very rare that any of these will remain the same for more than 3 to 5 years. Yet how often do we replace a shovel?!
