New Google RSS Reader

Google has just released the Beta version of its new RSS Reader. What on earth is that, you ask? Well, for some time now, many websites, including this one, have been automatically publishing a special "RSS feed" that essentially tells any interested person when a new item is available. So rather than having to manually go back and check if your favourite blogger has added something new, this service can automatically inform you of the same. To take advantage of it you need software that understands RSS. If you're viewing this very page with Mozilla Firefox then you already have such software!
If you want to know if a website is publishing RSS then just look for one of these little orange symbols. If you see one then you can use the RSS Reader to subscribe to the page. Once you've done that then you can view 1 or 1,000 different sources of information all in one place. Think of laying out on your kitchen table a few newspapers. An RSS Reader allows you to do the same thing, albeit from information sources around the world. And what's really cool is that you can instantly search for any topic that interests you and then instantly subscribe to all sources that look appealing.
