Vancouver Celebration of Light: Night #3

China took the stage tonight and I think they were clearly the best yet!

Getting to Whistler: Time for an Alternative Route?

Highway 99, the only direct route to Whistler, is currently blocked do to a large rockslide between Lions Bay and Squamish.If this happens during the 2010 Olympics, it'll be a disaster. Thinking to the future, perhaps it's time to pave another route, a dirt road that emanates from Harrison Hot Springs and heads up to Whistler. I don't know if it goes all the way but it definitely goes a long portion up there. Imagine the beautiful vistas that will be opened up to the general public along Harrison Lake!

Preparing to SkyDive

Ever since he arrived on this trip, Danny has been talking about going SkyDiving. This activity freaks me out more than a little, especially because he's the one going. But he's been insistent and his mom has given the okay so we booked it today. Let's hope that everything goes perfectly fine!

Visit to Corus

My lovely friend, Colette, gave Danny & I a tour of Corus Entertainment's Vancouver headquarters today, home of these 4 stations:

This first photo of Vancouver's central post office was the only one not taken from high up in the TD Canada Trust tower.

Here's Christy Clark on-air.

Everyone we met seemed intrigued by the fact that Danny was visiting from Aguascalientes, Mexico. Some even practiced a little Spanish with him!

Danny just introduced me to PicLens, one of the most visually stunning Internet browser add-ons I've ever seen. Give it a try, it's free!

Window Washer

BBQ Photos

These photos were shot Saturday evening but I've been ridiculously busy lately.

Prawn skewers
Assorted fruit: Rainer Cherries, Kiwi Fruit, Lichees, Red Grapes
Sharon's magnificent trifle
Clara's Margarita Pie (though Sharon's recipe!)

Fighting Back Against Telemarketers

This is beyond brilliant! Amy Alkon describes in vivid detail how she gave the exec of a telemarketing company a taste of his own medicine. Bravo Amy, bravo!

Dennis Miller on the E-Hypocrite, Al Gore

Look up "Moron" and you'll see the photo of Avi Lewis

Avi Lewis is the poster boy for American hating, Christian hating extremist liberals. Watch him here try to lecture a very brave woman from Somalia, Ayaan Hirsi, about his warped view that there's a lack of freedom and democracy in the United States.

Without a doubt, he represents everything that is wrong with Canadian liberals. Incidentally, some have speculated that this CBC interview was what got him the job at Al Jazeera.

Seafair: 4 Days & Counting!

Danny & I are getting VERY excited about what we'll see this weekend!

Class Action Lawsuit Attempt in Quebec

A Quebec man is trying to get a lawsuit against Bell Mobility and Telus Mobility to be certified as a class action lawsuit.

I have 3 simple words to say to this man:

  1. Bravo!
  2. Bravo!
  3. Bravo!
I'm not so familiar with wireless carriers in other countries but here in Canada they are no better than unsavoury used car salesman.

Interesting Global Warming Statistics

E-mail from a friend:

Between 1997 and 2004, carbon dioxide emissions rose as follows:

Emissions worldwide increased 18.0%;

Emissions from countries that ratified the protocol increased 21.1%;

Emissions from non-ratifiers of the protocol increased 10.0%;

Emissions from the US (a non-ratifier) increased 6.6%;

Emissions from the US increased less than 75% of ratifying countries.

With respect to the last point, the following are the percentage rises in emissions for a list of selected countries which have ratified the protocol (or which were exempted from targets): Maldives, 252%; China, 55%; Luxembourg, 43%; Iran, 39%; Norway, 24%; Russia, 16%; Italy, 16%; Finland, 15%; Mexico, 11%; Japan, 11%; Canada, 8.8%.

Here is unequivocal factual evidence in support of the scathing observation. ‘Global warming’ has become the ultimate faith without works. All that matters is the public confession of sin and belief, which must now also include the vilification of the US.

Moon Bloodgood: Lovely, Lovely, Lovely!

With little new to report today, I thought I'd share with you a photo of who I consider to be one of the most beautiful women alive today. Besides her acting credits, one thing this Eurasian actress can claim is having more O's in her name than perhaps anyone else on the planet!

She also shares the same birthday as me!

Give an ingenious teenager a $1.00 Laser Pointer and a camera capable of having its shutter open for 15 seconds and here's what you get:
